Camping and parking information for big red attendees.
All "three day" tickets for big red allow you to park and/or camp for
free, space
permitting. We have two large areas at the clatsop county fairgrounds
set aside for three day attendees. Festival camping will be on those
two fields. You may park a car or van, next to your tent, or in placeof
a tent. No large motorhomes, old school buses, or fifth wheels, please.
In addition to portable toilet facilities, there will also be wash
stations and a shower hut.
No open fires, please. It's summer, and this is a heavily forested
area. Camp
stoves are okay, as are solar cookers. Solar cookers are obviously
encouraged. "Single day" ticket holders will be allowed to park in the
day-use lot at the fairgrounds. again, it is space permitting. There
are also downtown parking areas.
The Sunset Empire Transit District has arranged a shuttle bus service
that covers western clatsop county from Fort Stevens to the East end of
Astoria. There will be about two dozen places to board the shuttle to
the fairgrounds around the area. Three separate bus lines will be in
operation, serving all pickup points once per hour. Buses will run
from an hour before the music starts to an hour after it has ended each day.
Parking lots along marine drive in astoria (each is a shuttle stop)will allow
concertgoers to park downtown, and allow local residents to attend while leaving
cars at home.
We ask for safety reasons that no glass bottles be brought onto
the fairgrounds. also, no dogs other than service dogs will be allowed.
There will be food vendors on site. On Saturday and Sunday mornings,
there will be a full breakfast buffet at the food service area in the
main exhibit hall, priced at a very reasonable $8. The beer garden will
be in operation with barbecued burgers and oysters plus craft brews. In
addition, there will be an organic produce stand, as well as fruit and
vegetable juice drinks available.
There will be information booths about saving historic buildings and protecting
the Columbia River on site.
Big Red souvenirs, including t-shirts and signed prints by artist Royal
Nebeker will be available for donations.
Given the general anticipated age of the crowd, we do not expect a lot of
kids to be in attendance. There will be a supervised child care area for the
kids and grandkids who come along with the family, though. We also will not ask for
an admission ticket for anyone under 12 years of age.
If you have any questions, e-mail us. Thank you for supporting the arts on the coast.
